You have worked hard all year and it's now time to enjoy yourself and replenish your spirit with a tropical vacation. There are so many choices available, and of course there are costs to consider! Nothing is more stressful than blowing your budget because of unforeseen extra costs to be paid on check out.

What are these extras one can easily overlook? First there are local taxes. Many resorts will omit this from their rates schedule. Then there are transfers to and from your resort from the International airport. Are these provided by the Resort free of charge? Or are you in charge of your own arrangements? Meals? How much will these amount to? Activities? Here is another extra expense that can add to your holiday expenses.

In Fiji Islands, many resorts now offer their guests an all inclusive package. This removes the headache of working out what extra costs may or may not be involved. The all-inclusive package usually includes all taxes - Fiji has two taxes now, the government VAT tax plus a new smaller bed tax, so check the package details to see if "all" taxes are part of the overall cost. A meal plan is a common inclusion. This might be a full meal plan of three meals a day, or sometimes breakfast and dinner. Transfers to and from the airport are often included, too. Resorts on outer islands require you take a delightful plane ride out to a local airstrip so check to see if the local domestic plane expenses are included as well as the airstrip pickup.

Many resorts will include all or at least non-motorised activities. This can save a lot of worry about how much to allow for having fun! Resorts will sometimes include soft drinks and bottled water, and delicious afternoon cookies! Enjoy your worry-free holiday!
