Fiji Beaches

There is nothing quite as appealing to travellers around the world as a sandy beach. There is something about kicking off one's shoes and enjoying the tactile pleasure of the warmth and feel of sand beneath one's feet, to walk along a beach after high tide and turn to see that the only footprints are your own. It relaxes the soul and satisfies primal instincts.

There are breathtaking beaches around the world, but the beaches found in the tropical regions are often the ones that most people picture in their minds. It is there that they imagine themselves kissed by the sun, cooled by the gentle breezes, and faced by an ocean or lagoon of a myriad of blues. They imagine wading into the warm clear waters, and being enthralled by a kaleidoscope of colour provided by a coral reef and its many fish inhabitants.

And, of course, when one thinks of the tropics, ones thoughts automatically turn to Fiji. With over 300 islands, deep in the heart of the South Pacific, Fiji lures thousands of travellers each year to its sandy shores. Which beach will be yours? There are white beaches, golden beaches -- and even some black beaches that betray their volcanic origins.

The larger islands have some excellent white sand beaches. For the finest white sandy beaches, however, look to the smaller offshore islands encircled by coral reefs. These include the Yasawa islands, the Mamanuca islands, Vatulele, Wakaya, Namena .. to name just a few! There are so many wonderful beaches to explore in Fiji Islands.
