There are few places on Earth you can call paradise... the Fijian island of Taveuni is unquestionably one of them.
A Rare jewel located within one of the world’s four rainforests, Taveuni is unspoiled and uncrowded; featuring rich Fijian culture, lush green vegitation, the richest tropical fruits, magnificent nature walks to several ancient waterfalls (a swimmer’s delight!), snorkelling and diving at a multitude of world class colorful coral reefs, the freshest and tastiest local foods, and the most genuinely friendly people in the world... believe it or not (almost too good to be true!!), this is Taveuni: the garden island of Fiji.
Location
On a perch overlooking the calm, deep blue ocean, Karin’s Garden is located on a lush green acre, a slice of tranquility. You will not believe the views of the sunset over the distant speckled islands as the dolphins play on the sparkling ocean’s surface... you just need to experience it. We are within easy walking distance of local supermarkets, restaurants, dive and kayak rental shops and the Matei Airport (don’t worry, you never hear the planes overhead!).
There are several daily flights from Suva and Nadi with Air Fiji and Sunair. For those who prefer to approach by our calm blue seas, there is an inter-island ferry service that leaves from both Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.
Accommodation
German couple Karin and Peter Uwe Ronczka, dedicated to the beauty, serenity and peace of their garden paradise, offer one spotless and cozy bungalow-style bure, perfectly designed for a couple, family, or group of four. There is a spacious, fully-equipped kitchen and two bedrooms each with en-suite bathrooms (featuring hot showers), one with a Queen-size bed and the other with two singles. Three large windows provide ample cross-ventilation and allow the breeze of the trade wind to lull and refresh you. In addition, both bedrooms feature ceiling fans and all windows are fully screened... absolutely perfect! You will just love the space.
If, on any given night, you are not in the mood to cook, Karin is a former professional chef and it is always a pleasure for her to prepare excuisite cuisine using organically grown herbs and vegitables from our own garden that you can savour on your private porch, or by candle light on our newly-built sun deck, overlooking the ocean under the spectacular starry southern night-time sky.
The property, covered from end to end with green tropical delights (as is all of Taveuni!), also features a private beach where you can dip your feet, swim or just breathe in the sunshine. What can not be understated here is the peace: at Karin’s Garden you are not at a resort, you have a private, quiet home nestled in the garden jewel of the south pacific. You will feel right at home amongst the scenery, culture, and blissful landscape.
Dining & Entertainment
Many tourists called it ‘The Best Restaurant on the island’. Karin, a professional chef, prepares the most delicious beef fillet steaks, juicy roasted pork and famous Hungarian goulash in our small intimate restaurant, where you can enjoy your dinner in style. All dishes are freshly prepared with fresh herbs and the best available ingredients. Though we are specialized in meat dishes, vegetarian dishes made from delicious fresh local vegetable are prepared on request.
It is our effort to satisfy all guests, who love excellent international cuisine even on a remote island like Taveuni.
Activities
Obviously, since Taveuni’s reefs on the Somosomo strait are rated among the world’s top dive sites, diving and snorkelling are a major draw to our island. There are, however, many other incredible activities that need to be experienced here to make your trip complete. For those who love playing in or on the water, we suggest reef and deep sea game fishing with our local masters, and kayaking trips along the coast. No traveller should miss the awe and spendour of the waterfall nature hikes at either (or both!) the Lavena National Park with its breathtaking coastal scenery, and the Tavoro National Park that features three distinct and gorgeous waterfalls. For bird enthousiasts, Taveuni offers a habitat for a multitude of rarely recorded Fijian sea and shore birds and you must experience the sights and sounds in Qeleni Village. Last, but not least, for those who want a place to simply relax... just do it... participate in the breezy ease and pace of life on a tropical island paradise!
