Nakia is an intimate, family-operated eco dive resort on the Garden Island of Taveuni, Fiji. Perfectly situated on a magnificent bluff overlooking the serene Somosomo Strait, Nakia offers stunning views of the aquamarine Pacific from one of the most beautiful settings in Fiji.
As an eco resort, Nakia offers a comfortable and relaxing environment using sustainable, natural energy, water from artesian springs and fresh organic fruits and vegetables, grown on site. This combination of sustainable features is unique in Fiji.
Location
Surrounded by majestic coconut palms, tropical rainforests, dalo fields, organic gardens, and beautifully landscaped grounds, Nakia occupies ten spectacular acres on the north-west coast of Taveuni, Fiji’s third largest island. The resort is completely surrounded by nature, yet only a few kilometers from two colorful towns, as well as the airport and ferry dock.
Accommodation
Nakia’s four bures (Fijian cottages) are carefully situated to provide privacy and spectacular views of the Somosomo Strait. Each bure features continuous power, on-demand hot water, elevated ceilings with fans, cool tile floors, comfortable locally-made furnishings, and premium mattresses.
The Somosomo bure is suitable for a family with king size bed, two single beds, full bath, indoor sitting area, and large furnished covered porch with hammock. The Sunset, Forest, and Garden bures (1 or 2 guests each) feature a queen size bed, full bath, indoor sitting area, and furnished patio with hammock.
Dining & Entertainment
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily at Nakia’s Cliffhouse Restaurant. The menu features freshly-baked breads and desserts, tropical fruit drinks, fresh seafood and Fijian lamb, beef, pork, and chicken. Other specialties include freshly-picked fruits,vegetables, and herbs from our organic garden. We prepare everything fresh every day.
Activities
Taveuni, the Garden Island of Fiji, is utopia for nature-loving travelers and families. Taveuni Ocean Sports at Nakia offers scuba diving, snorkeling, and boat trips to remote waterfalls and secluded beaches. Or you may wish to venture out on your own, using the resort’s sea kayaks or premium mountain bikes. Closer to home are Nakia’s 12-meter fresh-water swimming pool and snorkeling the reef just below the resort. We also can arrange massages in your bure or outdoors.
Diving
Nakia offers the most comprehensive, safest, and best-equipped dive and water sports services available on Taveuni Island. Taveuni Ocean Sports at Nakia offers PADI scuba diving courses and tours, snorkeling, surfing and boating. It is the only family-operated dive operation on the Island. The dive boat is fully equipped with GPS, sonar, VHF radio, emergency oxygen, an extensive first aid kit and lifejackets.
Eco-Adventure
Visitors will find many ways to enjoy Taveuni. More than half of the island is protected as a national park; the remainder consists of extensive, pristine forests and small farms. Our main attractions are natural - rainforests with rare native birds and spectacular waterfalls, pristine beaches, and world-class reefs. Nakia employs environmentally-friendly practices and Nakia’s guests help conserve the environment by choosing an eco resort.

Rates are per bure per night in US dollars and do not include Fiji’’s 17.5% tax.
Rates include use of the resort’s facilities and equipment (12-meter fresh-water swimming pool, kayaks, premium mountain bikes, and games) and round-trip transfers between Nakia and Taveuni’s airport at Matei or the ferry dock.
The following services are available for an additional charge: meals at Nakia’s Cliffhouse Restaurant, a car and driver or guide; additional guests in a bure; child care; boat trips to dive, snorkel, fish, and surf; massage; laundry; and alcoholic beverages.
Check-in is 12 noon and check-out is 10am.
